首页>>News>>Company News- What should I do if the goods are sent to the wrong destination port?
Don't be afraid of ten thousand, be afraid of what if! Sometimes, due to various reasons, goods may be sent to the wrong destination port.
So what should we do in the face of such a situation? The following methods are provided for your reference:
Firstly, we need to clarify who is responsible. At this point, we need to check whether there are any errors on the documents of the shipper, ourselves, and the shipowner. Generally speaking, there are three situations:
The first type is that the carrier sends the goods based on the consignor's consignment note. If it is the consignor's mistake, it will result in the wrong location being sent, and the consignor will bear all responsibilities and costs.
The second type is the problem with the freight forwarder. If the freight forwarder makes a mistake, it may lead to the shipowner also making a mistake, because the shipowner handles things based on the consignment note given by the freight forwarder; At this time, the responsibility lies with the freight forwarder.
The third type is when the shipowner makes a mistake and confuses the goods, but the probability of this happening is very small. But if it is the responsibility of the shipowner, then you need to negotiate with them. No matter what situation we encounter, we must calmly analyze whose responsibility it is, so that we can come up with a solution.
2. After identifying the problem, see if it is possible to change the port. First, check how many ports the shipowner has booked and whether there is any transshipment. If the goods are still in transit, you can negotiate with the shipowner to transfer to another port, because if not, when the ship arrives at the wrong port, if it is transshipped again, not only will it incur considerable costs, but customers will also be unable to wait.
3. Look at the value of the goods. If the value of the goods is relatively low, you can abandon this batch of goods or auction them locally to reduce your losses. If the value of the goods is too high, it is recommended to transfer or retrieve them. It should be noted that parking the goods at the port will incur high container rental and storage costs.
Before shipping the goods, the freight forwarder, shipping company, and salesperson must carefully check the documents in hand for any errors. Do not be tempted by small discounts and choose irresponsible shipping companies. Be sure to choose reputable ones. And choose those with better timeliness, because some ship owners may not guarantee when the goods will arrive at the port. For them, at most, it's just a matter of being late, and even if they pursue any legal responsibility, they won't suffer any losses. This is not good for the consignee either, as it not only affects the delivery time, but also may leave a bad impression. For us, safeguarding the interests of our customers is also a basic condition for long-term orders with them.
